Speaking

What began as a passion for encouraging women to deepen their faith by knowing and loving God more through studying the Bible together has grown into speaking at retreats and conferences with the same goal in view. The topics I’ve developed focus on our relationships to one another as fellow believers in Christ. The Bible is clear that once we are reconciled to God through the cross, we are “no longer strangers and aliens” to God or to one another, but “fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God” (Eph. 2:16, 19). There is no such thing in Scripture as a Lone Ranger Christian. Living out this truth isn’t easy, but it’s part and parcel of our sanctification as God shapes us into the image of his Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. As we delve into the topics of Biblical Hospitality and The Fellowship of the Saints we will be guided by the Scriptures, so bring your Bibles and be ready to “receive the word with all eagerness and examine the Scriptures to see if these things are so” (Acts 17:11).

Biblical Hospitality

Practicing Biblical Hospitality is far more than just having friends over for a meal. The significance of sharing a meal together is deeply woven into the Scriptures from being fed in the wilderness to the Lord’s Supper. Biblical hospitality is a means for us as the Body of Christ to grow in fellowship together and to express our love for one another as we live out our covenant relationships with others as a result of our covenant relationship with God.

For this topic, I’ve prepared 3 talks, with small group discussion questions for each.

Session 1: The Motive for Biblical Hospitality

Session 2: The Call to Practice Biblical Hospitality

Session 3: The Practice of Biblical Hospitality

The Fellowship of the Saints

In our fractured and often lonely world, we need to be reminded that our Lord Jesus Christ came, suffered, and died to save to himself a unified people, not a collection of disconnected persons. We need to be reminded that the good news of the gospel is that we “may have fellowship with [one another]; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3). Our fellowship with the Father and his Son Jesus Christ is no mere add-on to the gospel of salvation, it’s not a nice afterthought tacked onto saving us from our sins. Our fellowship with one another and with God is the whole point of our salvation.

For this topic, I’ve prepared 4 talks, with small group discussion questions for all but the first.

Session 1: Who Are We?

Session 2: The Basis of the Fellowship of the Saints

Session 3: The Marks of the Fellowship of the Saints

Session 4 The Glory of the Fellowship of the Saints

*The first talk is a stand-alone, and if time doesn’t permit four whole sessions, the second through fourth talks are a complete set for a retreat.
