About

Welcome to my blog, Grateful, I’m glad you’re here. As much as I shy away from talking about myself, I suppose that’s what an “About” page is for, so here goes.

The first, last, and most important thing about me is that I am a child of God, saved by grace through faith in his Son Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. To share this is not to talk about myself, but to boast entirely in the Lord, for I had nothing to contribute to my salvation but the sin that made it necessary. He who began his good work in me will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. In the meantime, with the help of the Holy Spirit and the community of the saints around me, I’m making every effort to steward the grace of God which he has so mercifully given. When God calls us to good works, though some (or much) of it may be difficult or perilous, requiring great courage and trust, I believe he also grants us delight and glimpses of beauty in our work. And so, while the Lord has called me to walk through some dark valleys, he’s also shown me his goodness and mercy, and a longing to share it with others.

To that end, I’m a reader, writer, retreat speaker, and hospitality enthusiast. I enjoy cooking, (eating), gardening, traveling, and shooting the occasional photograph. My husband Jim and I are the parents of five of the neatest people we know and grandparents to four grand boys. Funny story: I’ve been blogging ever since I accidentally signed up for a blog while attempting to comment on a friend’s post and figured, “Why not?”

Jim and I are members of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in New Braunfels, Texas, where I serve on the women’s ministry team and lead Bible studies for women in the hope that together we “may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge” (Eph. 3:18-19).
